Project Background

The Yangtze-to-Huaihe River Water Diversion Project, a major national strategic initiative for cross-basin and cross-regional water resource allocation and comprehensive utilization, spans five years with a total investment of approximately 87.5 billion yuan. It is set to achieve its construction goal of trial water diversion and navigation this year. The project comprises three main sections: diverting Yangtze water to Chaohu Lake, connecting the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers, and conveying Yangtze water northward. Its water supply coverage extends to 55 districts and counties across 12 cities in Anhui Province and 2 cities in Henan Province.

Project Overview

Taihao Shendian supplied a total of 10 motors—comprising the YXKK560-10, YXPTKK560-10, and YLKK630-16 series—for the Fuyang Urban Water Supply Project, a component of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe northward water conveyance section. Currently, Phase I construction is nearing completion, and Phase II is scheduled to begin within the year. Upon completion of the No. 4 Waterworks, water will be lifted from the newly built Chahua Station on the Cihuai New River to a point downstream of the Cihepu Sluice. It will then be pressurized at a booster station and transported via pipeline to the No. 4 Waterworks to supply the urban area of ​​Fuyang. This will enable the residents of Fuyang to consume water from the Yangtze River, resolve the city's water shortage, alleviate the pressure caused by groundwater over-extraction, and support the integration of urban and rural water supply systems.

Project Site

On-site personnel are currently finalizing tasks such as equipment commissioning, landscaping, and interior finishing. Comprehensive installation of all electromechanical control systems is underway. Subsequently, thorough testing and commissioning will be conducted to evaluate the operational status and technical performance of the four pump units, monitoring and protection systems, high- and low-voltage power distribution systems, and sluice gate operating mechanisms, as well as to verify the quality of equipment manufacturing and installation. A comprehensive review will also be performed to ensure that the pump station's electromechanical equipment and installation quality comply with relevant regulations and standards.

The next steps involve fully mastering the technical performance of the electromechanical equipment, measuring essential technical data, and determining alarm and shutdown thresholds for various protection systems based on actual commissioning results, thereby ensuring full technical readiness for the pump station's official operation. To date, the ten electric motors from Taihao Shendian have successfully passed on-site testing and inspection. All performance indicators comply with national industry standards and meet the requirements of the customer's technical specifications; notably, metrics such as motor efficiency and noise levels surpass national standards.

Project Objectives

Upon completion of the Yangtze-to-Huaihe Water Diversion Project, abundant water resources from the Yangtze River will be diverted to the Huaihe River and its basin. This will fundamentally resolve the long-standing water scarcity issues facing the Northern Anhui Plain and Eastern Henan region. The project aims to transition urban and rural water supplies from groundwater to surface water sources while simultaneously advancing the integration of urban and rural water supply systems.
